CPM 2 has a genuinely capable photo mode — drone camera, filters, and a panning mode that simulates high-speed tracking shots. Here's the full workflow used by community creators.

Before you shoot

Set the time and weather first. Golden hour, night mode, or rain completely change the atmosphere of a shot. Do it before entering photo mode so you're not fighting the light later.

Smooth cinematics (drone mode)

  1. Enter drone mode.
  2. Press the slow-movement icon — it slows the drone down, which is the key to smooth, slow cinematic sweeps.
  3. On mobile, control movement with both thumbs and keep the camera moving as slowly and smoothly as possible. Slow movement always looks better; a consistent speed takes a little practice.

Normal photos

  • Zoom to around 8x for detailed distance shots of your car.
  • Experiment with photo mode's filters and basic editing options after framing.

High-speed panning shots (single player only)

  1. Drive at high speed, then quickly press the phone icon to pause and enter photo mode.
  2. Choose panning mode and pick a camera angle.
  3. Shutter speed is the key setting: the slower the shutter, the faster the car appears to move — with extra motion blur on the wheels and environment. This works for drifting shots too.
  4. Watch tire direction: with tilt controls you can turn your phone while taking the picture to adjust the steering angle, so the wheels point the right way in the final shot.

Panning mode does not work in multiplayer — you can't pause a live session.

FAQ

Do panning shots work in multiplayer in CPM 2?

No. Panning mode only works in single player, because it relies on pausing the game to enter photo mode while the car is moving.

What does shutter speed do in CPM 2 photo mode?

A slower shutter speed adds motion blur to the wheels and background, making the car look faster in the final shot.
