A burnout in CPM 2 is more than showing off — warming your tires before a drag launch is treated as a required step by competitive drag players, and "perform a burnout" even shows up as a rotating daily task.
How to do a burnout
- Use a rear-wheel-drive car with decent power (muscle cars and tuned builds work best).
- Hold the brake/handbrake and apply throttle at the same time so the rear wheels spin in place.
- Keep the wheels spinning until you see smoke — community drift tutorials recommend fully burning (warming) the tires before a serious run.
- Release the brake to launch out of it.
On mobile with tilt controls, manage the throttle smoothly; on PC a gamepad's analog triggers make burnouts easier to control than a keyboard.
When it matters
- Before drag races: warm tires grip better off the line. Do your burnout, stage at the line, and launch on green — jumping the yellow light twice is an automatic loss. Full rules in the drag racing guide.
- Drift setups: drifters burn tires down before sessions; builds like the Nissan S13 community drift car rely on it.
- Daily tasks: when the burnout task appears, any safe stretch of road works — no race required.
