The Steam PC version of CPM 2 supports keyboard & mouse (including mouse steering), gamepads, and racing wheels with force feedback. Below are the community-documented bindings for the current Early Access build — the game is still evolving, so check the in-game settings on your version.
Keyboard — driving
| Action | Key | | --- | --- | | Radial menu (headlights, hazards, lock, reset, cruise) | Tab, then scroll with mouse wheel | | Throttle / brake | W / S | | Steering | Hold left mouse button + move mouse (see note below) | | Sequential gearbox toggle | Shift (once), then Q / E to shift | | Automatic gear select (P/R/N/D/S) | Q / E | | Full manual gears | Hold Shift + swipe mouse up/down | | Engine on/off | Z | | Handbrake (pull) | Space | | Handbrake (lock on / release) | Hold Ctrl, tap again to release | | Horn | G | | Camera cycle | C (hold C to freely position the interior camera) | | Phone / drone access | Hold mouse scroll wheel | | Map | M |
Early Access quirk: A/D steering keybinds appear in the settings but currently don't work — steering is mouse-only for now. Also, sequential mode has no reverse or neutral yet. Both are on the developer's control-refinement roadmap.
Keyboard — on foot
| Action | Key | | --- | --- | | Exit / enter car | F (hold F to open doors) | | Move | W A S D (jogs by default) | | Walk slowly | Tap Caps Lock to toggle | | Crouch | Ctrl | | Slide | Sprint + Ctrl | | Hood/trunk, player list, emotes, auto-run | Hold Tab (radial menu) |
Controller (Xbox / PlayStation)
| Action | Button | | --- | --- | | Gas / brake | Right / left trigger | | Clutch | RB (hold) — swipe right stick up/down to shift | | Exit car / doors | Y / Triangle (hold for doors) | | Handbrake | B — hold LB to lock, tap to release | | Engine on/off | X / Square | | Horn | Left stick click | | Headlights & options | D-pad left, cycle with stick | | Camera | Camera button (tap to cycle, hold to adjust) | | Phone / drone | Top menu button | | Walk toggle | Caps Lock equivalent on the radial options |
Racing wheels
The Steam feature list includes racing wheels with force feedback. Some specific wheel models are reported as not detected yet in Early Access — check the Steam community hub for your model.

FAQ
Does CPM 2 on PC support racing wheels?
Yes — the Steam version lists racing wheel support with force feedback, alongside gamepad and keyboard/mouse. A few specific wheel models are reported as not detected yet in Early Access.
Why don't the A and D keys steer in CPM 2 on PC?
In the current Early Access build, left/right keybinds exist in the settings but are not functional — steering works via the mouse (hold left click and turn). The developer's roadmap includes control refinement.
How do you shift gears in CPM 2 on keyboard?
Automatic cars use Q and E to move through park/reverse/neutral/drive/sport. Press Shift once for sequential mode, then Q/E to shift. For full manual cars, hold Shift and swipe the mouse up or down.
